EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

My educational philosophy is an evolving one in that it is both the same in its core beliefs and yet ever changing as new developments in educational research continue to either support or challenge my beliefs about learning and young people. With that in mind the foundation of my educational philosophy is the belief that everyyoung person can learn. The rate, depth and content of what one learns may differ from child to child, but every child can learn.

Every child matters. Each of us from time to time regardless of age asks ourselves "who am I?" and "what is my purpose?" It is crucial that an educator treat his or her students equallyand with the idea that each and every one of them is important and that they do have the power to impact the world around them.

In a perfect world each student would be individually tutored so that his or her learning styles were fully met in every topic of instruction; however, this is not the reality in which we practice the art of educating our youth. I believe that a child's environment out of school is as important as the one in school and that public schools should be a place where a child feels safe, empowered, nurtured and challenged to be his or her best.

My 3 E's of Education are:

Everyone can learn.

Each person has the ability to impact others and the world around them.

Each child learns best in a safe, empowering, nurturing and challenging environment.
